History
The Macalester-Groveland Seniors, a Living at Home/Block Nurse Program, was founded in 1987 through a grassroots effort by area residents and community leaders to meet the changing needs of residents over age 65. The program brings neighborhood professionals and volunteers together with their elder neighbors. Our elder program participants receive social, medical, health education, caregiver respite, companionship, or other support services. These services enable elders to live in their own homes for as long as possible and to delay or avoid placement into nursing facilities.
